IEC 60068-2-13 – Test M: Low Air Pressure – Ensuring Components Performance to be used, transported or stored at low air pressure
Standard: IEC 60068‑2‑13: Environmental Testing – Part 2-13: Tests – Test M: Low air pressure
Scope: IEC 60068-2-13 is part of the IEC 60068 series of environmental testing standards and focuses on evaluating the ability of electrical and electronic equipment to withstand low air pressure conditions. This test simulates high-altitude environments where reduced atmospheric pressure can affect product performance, safety, and structural integrity.
Applicable Products: This standard applies to a range of products, including:
- Electronic control units (ECUs)
- Sensors and actuators
- Battery systems
- Lighting and Infotainment systems
- Mechanical assemblies and enclosures
Test Procedure: In our specialized lab, we conduct IEC 60068‑2‑13 Test M: Low Air Pressure using state‑of‑the‑art equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results. For testing, specimens are placed in the chamber in operational or transport-ready condition. Pressure is then reduced to the target level and held for the selected duration.
End Result: Successful completion of IEC 60068‑2‑13 Test M: Low Air Pressure test confirms that components can withstand and function effectively at altitude.
Test Lab Locations: Detroit (Plymouth), MI; Grand Rapids (Kentwood), MI
